ECU President Silvio Danailov to participate in Seminar 'Chess in European Schools' in Vienna, Austria

The President of the European Chess Union Mr. Silvio Danailov will take part in seminar dedicated to Chess in the European Schools, which will be held in Vienna, Austria on 27 April 2012.

The theme of the seminar is “Translating Political Support to Funding for Projects and Improving Existing Programmes”.

 Mr. Danailov will open the seminar speaking on the topic “What Politicians think about Chess in Schools”.

“Bringing Chess into 100 Schools in Slovakia”

After the seminar, from 12.45, Veselin Topalov, World Champion 2005, will play a clock simul on eight boards against the top U18 players of Austria, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Topalov will be White against GM Rapport (HUN), FM Kriebel (CZE), FM Druska (SVK), Menezes (AUT) and Black against FM Juhasz (HUN), FM Handler (AUT), Wertjanz (AUT) and Huber (AUT). The games will be displayed live on http://live.chess.at.

The seminar and match are part of the Vienna Children Chess Festival, held by Spielend Schlauer, a non profit company specializing in chess education at primary schools, at the prestigeous museum Albertina.
