The President of ECU and BCF Silvio Danailov was in Zurich for the hearing at the Court of Arbitration for Sport concerning the dispute between BCF and FIDE for the Candidates’ matches

The President of the European Chess Union and Bulgarian Chess Federation, Mr. Silvio Danailov, was in Zurich, where today at 13.30 h local time, was held the hearing at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, concerning the dispute between the Bulgarian Chess Federation and FIDE for the Candidates’ matches.

Except Mr.Danailov, on behalf of the Bulgarian side the hearing was attended by the legal representatives of the Bulgarian Chess Federation Marco del Fabro and Zoran Damjanovic and the Norwegian lawyer from Oslo Morten Sand.

On behalf of FIDE the hearing was attended by Nigel Freeman and Jeffrey Borg and Andrew Paulson from the company “Agon”, USA.

The final decision of the arbitral tribunal is expected to become available by the end of the year.

As we have already informed you, earlier this year the Bulgarian Chess Federation submitted to the Court of Arbitration for Sport appeal against the decision of FIDE Candidates’ matches to be held in London. Three countries submitted official documents to host one of the most prestigious events in the world chess calendar – Bulgaria, UK and Azerbaijan. In its bid Bulgaria has determined Panagyurishte as the city – host of the event.
